Rainbow Dumplings

Who doesn’t love a splash of color? Adding rainbows to anything definitely makes it better! Just check out these gorgeous Rainbow Dumplings—aren’t they enchanting? They’re the perfect savory treats to kick off the new year! Sometimes, all you need is a little color, and we’ve got just the thing with our wonderful Suncore Foods® Powders! For these delightful dumplings, we mixed in some Suncore Foods® Aqua Blue Spirulina, Emerald Pandan Leaf, Red Beet, Ruby Red Radish, and Purple Sweet Potato Powders into the dough. We’re thrilled with how they turned out! Each dumpling is overflowing with delicious umami vegetable filling, and trust us, once you try them, you’ll want more!

Ingredients

Rainbow Dumpling Wrappers:
300g all-purpose flour
160ml water (adjust as needed)
1/2 tsp salt
Suncore Foods® Aqua Blue Spirulina Powder
Suncore Foods® Emerald Pandan Leaf Powder
Suncore Foods® Purple Sweet Potato Powder
Suncore Foods® Red Beet Powder
Suncore Foods® Ruby Red Radish Powder

Filling:
400g meat of your choice
200g cabbage finely chopped
Handful of chopped scallions
2 tbsp soy sauce
1/2 tbsp white pepper
2 tbsp sesame oil
1/2 tbsp sugar
2 tbsp cornstarch
Salt to taste

 

Directions

1. In a large bowl, mix all-purpose flour and salt. Slowly add water, adjusting as needed, and knead the dough until smooth.

2. Divide the dough into 5 equal portions. Mix each portion with a different Suncore Foods® Powder until fully incorporated.

3. Cover the dough with a damp cloth and let it rest for 15 minutes.

4. In a separate bowl, combine all filling ingredients. Mix well and refrigerate until ready to use.

5. Take about 30g of dough and roll it out into a thin circle using a rolling pin.

6. Place about 1 1/2 tbsp of filling in the centre of the wrapper. Dab water around the edges, fold the wrapper in half, and pleat or pinch the edges tightly to seal.

7. You can either pan-fry or steam the dumplings.

8. Enjoy your colourful dumplings with your favourite dipping sauce!
